Quintessa Restoration ClimAccelerator

AIC supported the Restoration ClimAccelerator by Quintessa, a targeted acceleration program designed to scale enterprises working at the intersection of ecosystem restoration and climate solutions in Brazil with a strong relevance to the Amazon biome. This project mapped and selected the most promising startups with scalable restoration technologies; accelerated these startups by refining their business models, and strengthened governance. This work implemented pilots in priority restoration areas in collaboration with major restoration actors, such as Re.green, Mombak, and Belterra. The initiative focuses on critical areas such as bio-innovation, seedling production, carbon monitoring, land tenure regularization, and financial instruments for restoration.

Impact Measurement:

The program assesses the number of startups accelerated, their financial sustainability, and their capacity to scale. Key restoration indicators include hectares restored, carbon sequestration potential (each hectare capturing 2-25 tC/year), and job creation (42 jobs per 100 hectares restored). The initiative also tracks the integration of new technologies into large-scale restoration efforts.
